Thanksgiving :D

Just as a disclaimer, I do realize how cliche this is, but I'm gonna do it anyway!

Being down in Cedar City at SUU, has given me a chance to really realize what all that I am thankful for. And I've also realized, that is a very long list, and I couldn't possibly even fit everything on here, nor have the time to do so. But I am extremely grateful for all that I have been blessed with, and I'm even more grateful for all the amazing people in my life. All my "stuff" can only get me so far, but I really just don't know where'd I'd be without certain people in my life. My friends and family that kept me (and still do keep me) going through everything. I've also realized that every person I have met has had some sort of impact on my life, in some way, and that's something I'm thankful for. Both the good and bad. Because even the people who didn't necessarily help me so much, still taught me very valuabe lessons, and I'm only here to learn.

I think we should all take some time everyday to think of the things we are thankful for, just so we don't lose perspective. But, if not, today is the perfect day to sit down and just think about it all, because even those of us who seem to have harder lives, are still very blessed in some way [[:

Another thing I'm grateful for? This break from school [[: It's only Thursday and I'm already having so much fun not being in my classes and spending time with the people I miss [: It's been great!!!!
And something to look forward to, only one more week of class, then finals week, the Christmas Break!!! Although...I'm still not totally sure what I'm gonna do in Payson for a month now. But we'll see [:

Taking Things For Granted

Just after 2 pm today I got a text from one of my friends asking if I had heard about the plane that crashed near Wilson Elementary, and I hadn't. But after I had read that I kinda sorta freaked out just a lot a little bit, because my brother, Josh, and my sisters, Shayelin and Sarah all go to school there. Also, the house where I used to live in Payson is only a couple blocks away from where this happened. I didn't know any other details other than a plane had crashed. So I went to the computer to took up the story and see what I could find, and it turns out that the plane crashed around 1:15, just 45 minutes before Wilson would be let out of school today. Both of the people in the plane died, but the plane crashed in a field/driveway between two houses, right across the street from the school. Seriously, only a street between the plane and Wilson Elementary property. No one else was injured. Thankfully. So after I knew they'd be home, I called my house, just to check and make sure that everything was okay. I talked to my brother and he said that one of his friends saw the whole thing, and that he could hear it from where he was. I just couldn't imagine being so young and witnessing that. But I'm just so thankful that it missed the houses and the school, and that no one else was hurt.

But this really got me thinking how much we (at least I know I do) take things for granted. In an instant things can literally be turned upside down. I was expecting to wake up, go to class, come back home, and for my siblings to do the same, but if that plane would've been just a few feet back or to the side it could've hit houses, or even the school, changing everything. We really are blessed that nothing else happened, and this just made me realize how much I do love and appreciate my family and friends. I just can't even imagine what would've happened if school would've been out and the kids would've been walking home during that time, because there is always a lot of kids on the surrounding streets of Wilson walking home after school. It could've very easily turned into a huge tragedy, so I can't help but be grateful for what I have.

The Great Times [[:

Just an update on the SUU-ness and such,
this last weekend...was....SO MUCH FUN!
Nothing was even super extraordinary, it was just tons of fun...
Friday: Marianne came down here so her, Sarah, Trisa, and I all hung out for a while and then Marianne had to leave so after that I just went to Trisa's house and just hung out with her for a while. Which was great times!!! We made a cake and over-enthusiastically watched a Jazz game. It was great times!! Then I went and watched Inception and went on late night adventures around campus
Saturday: This was my lazy day. I FINALLY set up my TV. It's only been like 3 months =P Then I just kinda hung out with some friends and went to the Volleyball game with Carly, Amanda, Russel, Ashley, and Bridger which was awesome. SUU won, as to be expected and we had like $30 in free food from 5 Buck Pizza. So we went there, got tons of pizza, and came back and watched a movie where lions ate people. Then made cookies. It was perfect.
Sunday: I got up late, went to church (which was good), called my family, went to dinner, then my friends Chantel and Kenzie came back so I hung out with them for a while. Then we decided to perm Hayden's hair. Oh my heck. I'm still not sure why he let that happen. But it was sooo much fun. Then Kenzie and I put one in our hair, but mine didn't stay.
So yeah!! That was pretty much my weekend. Lotsa fun and good talks with me friends :D

For All Those Considering SUU [:

Recently a lot of my friends have been asking me about SUU and how I like it here, and if I think they'd like it here, and so here's a longer, more thoughtful answer;
I LOVE being here at SUU, I can't say it's the right place for everyone, but I know it's the right place for me. I've had sooo much fun here, it's crazy how much fun, actually. I've met some AMAZING people, and it really seems like I've known them longer than 3 months, but it hasn't even been that long yet. There's always something going on here to get involved in, and I love that about SUU. I also love how quickly SUU really did become home, I feel comfortable here, and I feel like it's where I'm supposed to be.
The professors here (at least the ones I've had) have all been pretty good and I haven't had any problems with them.
The class sizes are small, which makes it easy to learn. I really do love being on a smaller campus, at least for my undergrads, I think it's easier to meet people and get involved that way.
SUU has a BEAUTIFUL campus, it really is so pretty here, and despite what some may think, there is a lot to do here.
SUU is just lots of fun, I've already had some great experiences here, and I haven't been here that long.
So for those who are seriously considering attending SUU, I'd encourage you to come here and take a tour, do some research, and if it's what you wanted it to be, I'd strongly encourage you to come here. This really is better than I was expecting, and I'm so glad I chose SUU over U of U :D
But, to all my friends who are still deciding between schools, if SUU isn't where you want to go, just make the most of wherever you are. This time only comes by once in your life, make sure you get involved in something and make the most of it, it can be an amazing time [[:

But I guess that can apply to anyone in any stage of life. Live every day to the fullest, you'll never have this time again, make it worthwhile

My Schedule For Next Semester

So, basically, I'm super excited for my schedule next semester. It's going to be great [: The only thing is that stupid Library one credit class SUU requries all Freshman to take. That puts me at 16 credits so I can't take anymore classes, cause I really wanted to take the Serial and Mass Murder or Terrorism class, but that max number of credits I can take is 18 and both of those would put me at 19 =/
Other than that I'm very happy.
I'll be taking....
HSS 1120 (Intro to Diversity) MWF at nine
Comm 1010 MWF at ten
Musc 1020 MWF at 11
and
Soc 3450 TR at 10
Biol 1010 TR at 1
Plus that dumb Library class I'm testing out of.
My declared major and minors are, as of now, Sociology with minors in Criminal Jutice and Communications with a Communication Studies emphasis [:

Yepp I'm a slacker =P

I was just wondering how long it would take me to start slackin' off on this thing hahaha...well, not very long I suppose. It's just hard to constantly keep it updated with well...college going on, ya know?
So what's happening in my life...
Well...
I went up to Payson last weekend for a conference at BYU and a couple farewells, and that was TONS of fun. I did miss The Howl (SUU's Halloween party) but it's okay. While up there I went to the conference Thursday which was..fascinating. It really was. It was about human trafficking for slavery and prostitution and I really did learn a lot from it. Just a quick disturbing fact, a pimp selling only four girls a year into child prostitution can make over $600,000 a year. It's sick how low humanity can go sometimes. It's actually rather frustrating but I'm really glad I went because I learned a lot that I'm not sure I otherwise would've. Well after that I went and hung out with my friend Liz and some other people and we went to Taco Bell [: Chalupas are pretty freakin' great and I'd suggest trying one [[:
Let's see...hmmm...Friday...Friday I went to Wats to see some of my old buddies and I ended up working for a little bit, but after Andrea, Cody, Steven, Shelby, and I all went to this party/dance thing and that was a lot of fun, also, and it was super fun to hang out with those guys again [:
Saturday I went to Wats, again, and worked for a little bit then Corbin, Ali, Daniel, Andrea, Cody, Kassidi, Kaylee, and I all went to Wingers and that was..quite the experience haha. I miss those guys a lot :/ And after that we went back to Wats for the re-branding party because Western Wats will now no longer be called Wats..it is now Opinionology, and I'm not totally sure how I feel about that. BUT! My friend Christian make donuts with bacon on them, and they were really good, actually. I know how it sounds, but seriously, you have to try it. Later that night I took my sisters trick or treating and just kinda hung out with my siblings for a while which was fun [:
Sunday I got up earlier than I have in I don't even know how long and went to my friend Josh's farewell with Shelby and Liz [: He did amazing with his little talk thinger and I'm super excited for him to go on his mission [: And after that one we went to Jeff's too. Then I came back home to Cedar with Autumn, Bridger, and Anna and had a fun ride back like always haha. So yepp...that was my weekend :D

This week..Hmmm...not a lot of exciting things are going on this week I don't think..I have a Criminal Justice test Friday and a Math test coming up soon too, I think. Yeah, other than that it's just been the fun college stuff and just having lots of fun with my friends here in Cedar. I have made some pretty freaking awesome friends down here, they're tons of fun [: And after being here for a while, even though I do miss my friends from Payson, I can really say that I'm glad I chose SUU because I do think it's been the best for me [[:
